2. the act of general, public, praise (compare also above especially Sl 22,4; Sl 33,1; Sl 106,12; Neh 12,46); — בּאֹוּ שְׁעָרָיו בְּתוֺדָה ׳חֲצֵרֹתָיו בִּת Sl 100,4 enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise; שִׁיר חָדָשׁ ׳שִׁירוּ לי תְּהִלָּתוֺ בִּקְהִל חֲסִידִים Plalm Sl 149,1 compare Sl 22,26; Sl 65,2; Sl 66,2; Sl 147,1 before the army הֵחֵלּוּ בְרִנָּה וּתְחִלָּה 2 Kron 20,22 in exhortation to the peoples הַשְׁמִיעוּ קוֺל תְּהִלָּתוֺ Sl 66,8 (|| בָּֽרֲכוּ עַמִּים אֱלֹהֵינוּ), compare Es 42,12.
3. praise-song, as title, תְּהִלָּה לְדָוִד Sl 145,1 (so Late Hebrew ספר תהלות & תְּהִלִּים, תִּילִּים, = Psalms).
4. qualities, deeds, etc., of ׳י, demanding praise: — נוֺרָא תְהִלֹּת 2 Mos 15,11 (song), i.e. terrible in attributes that call for praise (|| נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ & עשֵֹׁה פֶלֶא); often (both singular and plural) of Yahweh's deeds with verb סִפֵּר Sl 9,15; Sl 78,4; Sl 79,13; Es 43,21, also + ׳שֵׁם י Sl 102,22 with יַשְׁמִיעַ Sl 106,2 (|| ׳יְמַלֵּל גְּבוּרוֺת י); + צִדְקֶ֑ךָ with יֶהְגֶּה Sl 35,28 with יְבַשֵּׂ֑רוּ Es 60,6 + ׳חַסְדֵי י, with אַזְכִּיר Es 63,7 vid also לְהֹדוֺת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ לְהִשְׁתַּבֵחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶ֑ךָ Sl 106,47 = 1 Kron 16,35 to give thanks unto thy holy name, to glory in thy praises (= praiseworthy deeds).
